KaMani Sutra: A South Asian Drag Aunty’s transformational Journey
The first of this four-part visual storytelling series begins at Mani’s home. A place where they feel safe and loved.
Starting here allows you to meet Mani doing simple things to relax on a Sunday afternoon. Painting their nails by a sunny window. Cooking a quick Indian lunch of masala beans, daal, and rice. And finally settling in to color some “rangoli.” In a patriarchal society, all these are typecast as girly things that men shouldn’t do. But doing what brings us joy doesn’t need to be defined by gender or social norms.
